Three companies set to announce 1,200 new jobs

The BWG group, the owners of Spar, is to invest €100m in store development over the next five years, while two companies in counties Cork and Tipperary are expected to announce 200 jobs later today.

The BWG investment will see 50 new stores open around the country between now and 2016 with the creation of 1,000 jobs. Elsewhere, SolarWinds, a network monitoring software company, is providing up to 100 jobs in Cork city. This investment is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, through IDA Ireland.

Ribworld in Co Tipperary is to create 100 jobs with an €8m investment in its facility in Fethard. The company, which produces cooked meats, hopes to double output over the next three years. Recruitment to fill the 100 jobs will begin soon, with the company expecting to employ 175 people by the end of 2017.
