AbbVie has officially opened its new €85m facility expansion in Sligo today, declaring that the expansion will create 175 new jobs. Originally part of the multinational Abbott, AbbVie has completed its expansion and is now developing products to address some of the world’s most complex diseases in the areas of oncology, neuroscience, liver and kidney disease, etc.

100 of these jobs have been created already with a further 75 to be created shortly.

This official opening comes on the same days as Eurostat released their report showing euro zone unemployment figure fall to a rate of 11.7%, the official data from Eurostat showed notable signs of improvement for Ireland and Portugal.
