A new deal on EU-US trade will bring more investment and jobs to Ireland, PayPal’s Louise Phelan has claimed.
Louise Phelan, President of the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland, said while Ireland’s economy was continuing to strengthen, a sustained recovery was still critically dependent on growth in global trade and investment.
The European Commission will host a sixth round of EU-US trade talks in Brussels in the coming weeks.
“An expected benefit is new jobs and new investment in both the SME and multinational sectors in Ireland,” Ms Phelan said at an Independence Day celebrating US and Irish business relations.
Ms Phelan said told almost 400 guests the business group was strongly in favour of a new trade agreement, believing the proposed partnership will have benefits for consumers and businesses in Ireland.
