Construction company MMD is to create 100 new jobs in Cork.
The announcement comes as the firm opens its new €6m headquarters at the Cork Airport Business Park.
MMD Construction currently employs 140 staff and provides construction services in areas such as pharmaceutical, healthcare, residential and civil infrastructure.
The company says that recruitment for the jobs is under way and will be completed within the next two years. The new positions include roles for project managers, engineers, BIM technicians, carpenters and plasterers.
Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney, who is attending the opening of the company’s new headquarters, has welcomed today’s news.
He said: “I am delighted to be here today for the official opening of MMD Construction’s new office building. In addition to this we have the fantastic news that the company is creating 100 new jobs for Cork. This will provide a huge boost to the local economy.”
MMD Construction director Cormac Smith says the company hopes to attract emerging talent from Irish universities.
“New technology means the industry is changing for the better, and we hope to attract the best emerging talent from our Irish universities with our progressive graduate training programme. We believe that it helps prepare them fully for a career in construction in the 21st century,” he said.
