Jobs Boost As Tech For Transport Firm INIT Opens New Development Centre In Maynooth

INIT is set to create up to 20 new jobs with the opening of a new software development centre in Co Kildare today.

The supplier of IT solutions for public transport has consolidated its presence in Ireland, its first operations centre outside of Germany.

It is understood the strategic move was made after the company realised several successful projects here.

The supplier of integrated planning, scheduling, telematics and ticketing systems for buses, trams and trains wanted to tap into Ireland’s software ecosystem and service English-speaking markets.

The new highly skilled roles will be created in the areas of software development, in C++ and C#.

Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys TD said that, with its fast-growing economy, Ireland is an ideal location for INIT.

Among INIT’s projects here was the delivery of an integrated ITS solution for Dublin Bus to optimise its operations and to manage its bus services across the city.

The system also provides a real-time feed in the National Transport Authorities (NTA) passenger information infrastructure.
