According to accountancy firm Hughes Blake, during the 12 months of 2014 more than 1,200 jobs were saved in Ireland due to the examinership process. According to Hughes Blake, the change in the examinership process where it can now be processed by the Circuit Court has helped put the mechanism within the reach of small and medium sized businesses.

One such company which went into examinership, Elvery’s Sports, has successfully remained trading and retained a number of jobs. Initial fears of the Circuit Court not being able to handle such cases or there being teething problems have been banished with the results of Hughes Blake’s index.

Such news highlights the efforts and work being done by SME owners at keeping their business afloat and in turn saving jobs which would otherwise have been lost.
