What a boost to the county of Limerick today as work has begun on a €50m development of Foynes port. The project is the second phase of a 7 year quayside infrastructure development aimed at taking advantage of the Shannon estuary’s ability to cater for the world’s largest ships.

Preliminary works have already begun and it is estimated that the plan could create 3,000 jobs. The final phase will see 35,000 square metres added to the port. Ships will be able to dock alongside the quay and result in quicker turnaround times.
