Today sees the first sod turned for the new €36m development at a plant in Bailieboro,Co. Cavan where Lakeland Dairies are commencing the expansion to their existing operations. The development should see in excess of 160 jobs being created in the construction phase by the contractor and over 80 positions created with Lakeland Dairies directly in the operating of the new facility.
Lakeland Dairies is one of Ireland’s leading farmer owned dairy processing plant with over 800 million litres of farm produced milk annually and export to over 7o countries worldwide. With the impending abolition of milk quotas later this year, annual milk supply to Lakeland Dairies is expected to increase by approximately 40% to over 1 billion litres by 2020.
