Topaz and McDonald’s have together created 230 jobs at motorway service stations in Carlow and Cork.
The development on the M9 in Carlow is due to open next month, while the other station in Fermoy, Co Cork, will open in the Autumn.
Both will be 24-hour service stations.
The €14m investment in the service stations will also create an additional 100 jobs during the construction phase.
Managing director of Topaz Niall Anderton said it was delighted to announce the investment which would serve the busy Dublin to Waterford and Dublin to Cork routes.
“The development represents a very significant investment by Topaz, and we are also delighted to be able to bring a large number of jobs to both Cork and Carlow,” Mr Anderton said.
The service areas will feature a food court offering, which will include Topaz’s healthy ‘food on the go’ Re.Store, its latest Mexican offering Cantina, a McDonald’s restaurant, and there will be customer refreshment facilities.
There will be a large indoor seating area, as well as external picnic and seating areas for the summer months.
Once opened, the service areas will be in operation 24 hours a day with in excess of 140 parking spaces at each station.
This latest investment announcement by Topaz follows a €1.2m investment in a major site redevelopment at Dublin Port in partnership with Dublin Port Company late last year.
